The
Medicines Evaluation Unit is granted MHRA Phase 1 accreditation.
The MEU are proud
to announce that we have been awarded the Medicines and Healthcare products
Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Standard and Supplementary Phase I Accreditation. This
award demonstrates the high safety and quality standards we apply to the
performance of clinical trials here at the MEU.
The accreditation
is a voluntary process whereby the MEU’s facility, practices, staffing and
experience are inspected by the MHRA, the UK government agency responsible for
ensuring that medicines and medical devices work, and are acceptably safe.
This accreditation
is the highest award for clinical trials in Europe and allows the MEU to conduct
all phases of clinical trials including FTIH trials that require a review of
risk factors by the Expert Advisory Group (EAG).
“This award is a
well deserved accolade and places the MEU in the top ten of Clinical Research
Units based on a hospital site in the UK” David Rogers, Director of Operations.
